About the Host

Jenny Owen Youngs and Kristin Russo

Jenny Owen Youngs is an singer-songwriter from Montclair, New Jersey. She has released three albums, four EPs and a handful of singles. Kristin Russo is a writer, speaker, educator and consultant with a focus on Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer (LGBTQ) issues. Based in Los Angeles, CA, she is the CEO and Editor-in-Chief of LGBTQ organizations Everyone Is Gay & My Kid Is Gay, and authored This is a Book for Parents of Gay Kids (Chronicle, 2014). She worked as host and producer of First Person, a video series on gender and sexuality from PBS Digital and WNET, and holds a Master’s in Gender Studies from the CUNY Graduate Center. She has spoken at hundreds of universities nationwide including Harvard, Stanford, and NYU, has worked with large-scale companies such as Tumblr & Bloomberg on diversity inclusion, and works with local businesses with her ongoing OUR Restroom initiative to take gender markers off of single stall restrooms. She also co-hosts a Buffy the Vampire Slayer podcast with her wife, Jenny Owen Youngs, called Buffering the Vampire Slayer, and spends her free time searching endlessly time for Brooklyn bagels on the west coast.
