About the Host
Robin Young, Jeremy Hobson, and Tanya Mosley
Robin Young brings more than 25 years of broadcast experience to her role as host of Here & Now. She is a Peabody Award-winning documentary filmmaker who has also reported for NBC, CBS and ABC television and for several years was substitute host and correspondent for "The Today Show." Robin has received several Emmy Awards for her television work, as well as cable's Ace award, the Religious Public Relations Council's Wilbur Award and the National Conference of Christians and Jews Gold Award. She has also received radio's regional Edward R. Murrow award. As an independent documentary filmmaker, she produced and directed the opening film for Marion Wright Edelman's White House Conference on Children and followed the rise of then unknown filmmaker John Singleton in the film "Straight From the Hood." Her documentary "The Los Altos Story," made in association with the Rotary Club of Los Altos, California, won the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award and is now the backbone of a worldwide HIV/AIDS awareness initiative. She has had an eclectic career in broadcasting, serving as second director on Boston Bruins and Red Sox telecasts, was one of the first hosts on the groundbreaking television show "Evening Magazine," and she's pretty sure she's the only Peabody Award-winner who has also hosted a cooking game show! (Yes, that was Robin on the Food Channel's "Ready Set Cook!" When they cast their vegetables and vote? That was Robin's idea!) Robin was born on New York’s Long Island, attended Ithaca College in upstate New York and has lived and worked in Manhattan, Washington, D.C., and Los Angeles, but Boston is her hub.
Here & Now co-host Jeremy Hobson started telling stories on the radio when he was a kid and hasn't stopped since. After joining Here & Now in 2013, he's helped grow the program into public radio's indispensable midday news magazine, nearly tripling the audience in just a few years. He conducts nearly 2,000 interviews a year on a range of topics, speaking with world leaders, governors and members of Congress, as well as actors, musicians, business leaders, athletes, scientists and journalists. Hobson also started many regular segments on Here & Now, including the DJ Sessions, the daily business segment, conversations with Recode, BackStory, Derek Thompson of The Atlantic and a weekly interview with political journalists. Hobson has also anchored live special coverage for NPR during breaking news events, including day-long coverage of the Kavanaugh nomination hearings and Michael Cohen's congressional testimony. Before joining Here & Now, Hobson hosted the Marketplace Morning Report, a daily business news program with an audience of more than 6 million. As host, he interviewed some of the most powerful people in business including Warren Buffett, Bill and Melinda Gates and Richard Branson. Hobson was previously a reporter for Marketplace based in Washington, D.C., and later New York City where he covered Wall Street and its impact on ordinary Americans during the financial crisis of 2008. Hobson has also reported and hosted for public radio stations including WRNI Providence, WCAI Cape Cod and WILL in Urbana, Illinois. He spent years as a producer for NPR's All Things Considered, Day to Day and Wait Wait...Don't Tell Me! Hobson's radio career began at the age of nine when he started contributing to a program called Treehouse Radio. He is a graduate of Boston University and the University of Illinois Laboratory High School, and is proud to have been honored by both institutions with distinguished alumni awards.
Tonya Mosley is the third co-host of Here & Now, based in Los Angeles. Mosley has been the Silicon Valley bureau chief for KQED, the public radio station based in San Francisco. She is also the host of the new podcast Truth Be Told. As an Emmy and Murrow award-winning television, radio and print journalist, Mosley creatively uses her curiosity and tenacity to find and expose truths for the greater good of society. Prior to KQED, Mosley served as a senior reporter covering education for WBUR and before that had been a television reporter and anchor for several media outlets, including Al Jazeera America. In 2015, Mosley was awarded a John S. Knight Journalism Fellowship at Stanford University where she co-created a workshop for journalists on the impact of implicit bias and co-wrote a Belgian/American experimental study on the effects of protest coverage. Mosley has won several national awards for her work, most recently an Emmy Award in 2016 for her televised piece "Beyond Ferguson," and a national Edward R. Murrow award for her public radio series "Black in Seattle."
