About the Podcast
Johnny Depp might have played Donnie Brasco in the Academy Award-nominated film, but the real-life hero is Joe Pistone. Pistone came up on the mean streets of Patterson, New Jersey before going deep undercover and spending six years inside the Bonanno and Columbo crime families. In the new podcast “Deep Cover-The Real Donnie Brasco,” Joe Pistone shares the true stories of his time with The Mob to his friend, and our host, actor Leo Rossi. If you loved the Sopranos--“Fuhggedaboutit”--this is The Real Donnie Brasco.
About the Host
Joe Pistone and Leo Rossi
Joe Pistone Joe is a former American FBI agent who worked deep undercover to infiltrate the Italian mafia, for five years, under the identity and name of a jewelry thief named Donnie Brasco. The evidence collected by Pistone led to over 200 indictments and over 100 convictions of Mafia members. Some who were responsible for his infiltration were killed by other mobsters. Pistone was a pioneer in long-term undercover work. He had to think, talk, and act like a crook. He had to know the rules of the Mafia game. The intelligence goldmine resulting from Joe's work became a staple of the FBI's intelligence tradecraft. Leo Rossi Leo is an American actor, writer, and producer. He has been working profusely in both movies and TV shows alike from the mid-70s to the present day. He has portrayed more than his fair share of made Mafia guys as well as a substantial number of cops and government agents.
