Hayley Hamilton Cogill and Gary Cogill
Wine, spirits and travel writer, consultant and educator, Hayley Hamilton Cogill, CS/CSW is Co-founder of Cogill Consulting, and Founder & President of Dallas Uncorked, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit wine education organization founded in 2004. In 2010, she left the corporate world as Vice President for The Nielsen Company to focus solely on wine, food and travel, writing for the city magazine of Dallas, TX, D Magazine, a position she has held since 2008. In 2012 she became a weekly TV contributor to the Dallas based, lifestyle television show, The Broadcast airing on KTXD-TV. Additionally, Hayley freelances for various other publications, radio and television shows and has been featured on KTVT-TV (CBS in Dallas,) KATU-TV (ABC in Portland, OR), TASTING ROOM RADIO (Vancouver, BC,) Texas Daily & Taste Texas (KTXD-TV), D Moms Magazine, Pink Memo New York and Pink Memo Los Angeles, Southern Bride Magazine, Fearless Critic Food Guide – Dallas; Re:D Magazine, and Beverly Drive Magazine. Today Hayley is a member of Dallas chapter of Les Dames d’Escoffier International, the Society of Wine Educators, and the International Food, Wine and Travel Writers Association. She is a Certified Sommelier and Certified Specialist of Wine. Hayley actively supports various charity groups in her community including The Stewpot, New Friends New Life, The Dallas Film Society, The Dallas Zoo, The John Wayne Film Festival, and is on the Executive Leadership Board for Executives in Action. Writing about and enjoying the celebration of entertaining with food and wine is much of what guides Hayley’s everyday life. The constant hostess, and she can often be found in her kitchen creating recipes and cooking dinner parties, which she writes about on the Dallas Uncorked blog, Red Wine With Breakfast. When she isn’t busy with this she serves as a guest judge for wine and cooking contests, hosting educational wine tasting events for both corporations and friends/family gatherings, as well as creating wine lists for restaurants and corporate wine functions. Clients have included Pepsico, The Dallas Zoo, DonRuss, SW Risk, Batutto. She is married to her love, Gary Cogill, and is entertained daily by her furry child, Yoda, a Jack Russel/Shih Tzu mix. A seasoned traveler, Hayley has visited some of the greatest wine regions in the world. Though she has tasted some of the best wine made, she is still seeking that completely perfect glass. If it can be found is a mystery, but the never-ending adventure of looking and tasting is well worth the delicious hunt. Gary Cogill is an Emmy award-winning journalist, speaker, producer, host and consultant. For 24 years, Gary served as the film critic for WFAA-TV in Dallas (ABC), reviewing more than 10,000 films and conducting more than 20,000 interviews industry leaders. Through the years Gary sat down with the biggest names in the business including Robert DeNiro, Meryl Streep, Stephen Spielberg and Clint Eastwood. After leaving WFAA-TV he co-founded the Dallas, Texas based film production company, Lascaux Films. His Lascaux Films credits include, “Words And Pictures,” starring Clive Owen and Juliette Binoche; “Believe Me,” starring Alex Russell and Nick Offerman; “Refuge,” starring Krysten Ritter and Brian Geraghty,” and “The Starck Club,” a feature documentary on the legendary 1980’s Texas nightclub. Gary recently jumped back into the world of reviewing films, working at the NBC Owned & Operated KXAS-TV in Dallas, TX. His favorite films include “To Kill A Mockingbird”, “Schindler’s List”, and “Waiting For Guffman” (which he considers to be a comic masterpiece.) Some of Gary’s favorite moments include an evening with Oscar-winning composer John Williams conducting the Ft. Worth Symphony Orchestra, The Vail Valley Music Festival, a groggy Chuck Liddell falling asleep during a live television interview on “Good Morning Texas”, and countless hilarious interviews with Robin Williams, Tom Hanks, Emma Thompson, Denzel Washington, Matt Damon, Cate Blanchett, Judi Dench, Anthony Hopkins, George Clooney, Julia Roberts… the list is endless. Gary is also a much sought after speaker and moderator, hosting on stage “Evenings With” John Travolta, Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, David Mamet, Stephen Sondheim, Ken Burns, Danny Glover, Brooke Shields, Martin Sheen, Rob Lowe, Peter Bogdanovich, Marvin Hamlisch, Brad Bird, and more. Gary’s voice is also familiar. He has, over the years, been the voice for hundreds of characters for radio, television and animation. He is an avid fly fisherman, a voracious reader, considers cooking an art form and jogging a life saver. He grew up in Portland, Oregon where he sat thru “Lawrence of Arabia” four nights in a row as a ten year old. Gary is the proud father of two artistic daughters, and is married to Hayley Hamilton Cogill, who travels the world chasing the grape. Hayley is a Certified Specialist of Wine, a Sommelier, and the wine and spirits editor for D Magazine and television contributor. She is also the founder of Dallas Uncorked, and the author of the popular blog, “Red Wine With Breakfast.” Between wine and movies, they consider each other a beautiful pairing.
